Detached ADU Conversion
Project Prescriptions
The client wanted to utilize a large, unused portion of their lot for an ADU. However, Omar discovered that much of the space needed to remain untouched due to its designation as a flood-prone area. Despite this limitation, the project moved forward with a well-planned design that maximized the usable portion of the lot.
To avoid school fees, the client opted for an ADU under 500 square feet, with a minimum of one bedroom. Given the site’s constraints and the client’s goals, this was the most efficient layout. A raised foundation was chosen to address the slope of the terrain, ensuring the ADU was both practical and compliant with site conditions.
The result is a functional and thoughtfully designed ADU that works within the site’s limitations while providing a valuable living space tailored to the client’s needs.
